Eukanuba is sponsoring a Breeder's Sweepstakes on Saturday August 7th. This is the only outdoor show at which Eukanuba will be offering the event this year, and only one of a very few shows to offer the Sweepstakes. This is an opportunity for Breeders to proudly show what they have bred. The Breeder must enter three dogs from two different litters, the entry must be over six months old, and the exhibitor must be the breeder of record. Detailed information can be found at Eukanuba Breeder's Stakes

There are cash prizes of up to $500 for Best in Breeder Sweepstakes ($250 for Group Win) and a chance to compete for a paid trip to the Eukanuba National Championship!!!

One more reason to join us in Canfield, Ohio August 5-8, 2010! The Steel Valley Cluster - More than a just a dog show...IT IS AN EVENT!!!

    Breed Education

On Friday, August 6th, the Briard Club of America's Breed Education Committe (BEC) will present a seminar for judges and briarders. Ringside tutoring by BCA approved tutors will also be available. For more information, please contact Meg Weitz at MWWweitz.aol.com.

    Hospitality at the Regional

Briarders, if you "roll into town" on Wednesday, August 4th, Judy and Jim Withee invite you to their motorhome camping site that evening where they will host a meal to provide early arrivals the opportunity to set up, scout out the show grounds, and meet old friends.

On Thursday, August 5th, please join us under the tent that evening where we invite you to share in an informal potluck dinner. If you can bring a dish or item to share, the more the merrier.

Also, the MOBC will offer a catered luncheon on Friday, August 6th after breed judging. A specific time will be announced later, depending on our ring time that day and other activities occurring at the same time. On Saturday, August 7th, we will offer a catered dinner. Details and menu here: 2010 Canfield Regional Luncheon/Dinner Menu

    Accommodations in the Canfield Area

MOBC does not use a host hotel for the event, but the cluster does have a list of pet-friendly hotels in the Canfield area on its website here: Hotels. Also, Briarders who stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Boardman nearby reported that the hotel is nice, clean, reasonably priced, and close to the show grounds. Contact the Red Roof in at (330) 758-1999.

    Parking and Camping

The Briard 'area' will once again be located next to the ring in which we will be showing. When you enter the fairgrounds, our 'lane' will be the first on your right as you enter. Day parking is on the left, directly in front of the rings.

Campgrounds are on the right. Please remember that campers have paid for their campsites for all four days (no prorating)...these are their homes away from home. Please respect their sites and do not exercise your dog in the camping area.

    Fundraising at the Regional

Once again the MOBC raffle pixies have put their collective heads together to organize a nice raffle, but we need your help. Once again we are reaching out to friends in the Briard community to create or donate Briard-related, dog-related, or unique items for our fundraiser. If you have a talent for painting or scultping, consider offering your talents to the cause. Do you have some Briard-related paraphenalia hanging out in a closet gathering dust?--we welcome your gently used collectibles, dog items, books, etc. Please contact Barbara Galecki or Elke Kroenung if you have anything to offer. Check out the wonderful items that have already been offered on our RAFFLE PAGE.
